Born in Nandi, Fiji in 1972, Chand achieved professional rank in the Fiji
Pro Test at the age of 19. In 1997 he passed the Japan Pro Test and won the
right to play in the next year's Tour. In 1998, he claimed his first
victory
in his fourth professional appearance by winning the Descente Classic and
began to attract the attention of golfers worldwide. In 2001, he won the
Munsingwear Open KSB Cup and played a highly visible role as a member of
Fiji's World Cup team.
